This trek begins from Dolakha, a small township near Charikot, an eight hours drive from Kathmandu. The trail follows the course of River Tamakoshi on the way to Simigaon which adds more adventurous spice to the trek. On this trail you will also hike across the Glacial Lake Tsho Rolpa which offers an adventurous experience that is otherwise found only when attempting high peaks.

Rolwaling Trek

This region lies amidst Langtang range and Everest range. The major highlights of this trek are the captivating sights of both Mount Langtang and Mount Everest. The trekkers will be rewarded with the enchanting views of Majestic Mount Gauri Shanker (7134 m.).

This trek begins from Dolakha, a small township near Charikot, an eight hours drive from Kathmandu. The trail following the course of River Tamakoshi on the way to Simigaon adds more thrills to the trek. The option of crossing Tashi Lapcha Pass (5755 m.) to go to Namche Bazaar of Everest region is an adventure of its own kind. In this trail the Glacial A Lake Tsho Rolpa offers unforgettable experience.

 

Itinerary of Rolwaling Tashi Lapcha Pass in Details

Day 01

Drive from Kathmandu (1350m.) to Dolakha (1660m.) via Lamosangu (750m.) and Charikot (1980m.) by bus. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 02

Drive from Dolakha to Shigati (950m.) via Piguti (920m.) which takes about three and half hours. The trails pass through gravel road crossing the different villages of mixed community. You have to cross the several streams and jungles with varieties of orchid, rhodendron and other natural vegetation. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 03

Trek from Shigati to Jagat (1440m.) and it takes about seven hours. You trek through normal flat land along the side of the river. You pass through rice terraced. There are small villages on your way which are inhabited by mixed community. Several times, you cross the jungles covered by orchid, few rhododendron trees and wild vegetation. Now you cross a suspension bridge to reach Jagat, a small town resided by people of mixed culture. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 04

Trek from Jagat to Simigaon (2020m.) which takes about seven and half hours. The first part of your trails follows normally flat path, then it ascends and descends through the jungle. Several places, you cross through suspension bridge. There are numerous villages on your way. You can find small teashops and local shops at some of the places. Steeply climb up to Simigaon, a village inhabited by Buddhist and few Hindus. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 05

Trek from Simigaon to Daldung La (3976m.) and it takes about seven hours. On the route you come across the Sherpa villages. The uphill trek is rich in different varieties of plants and Rhododendron trees. After the uphill trek you will now come across ascending and descending paths while enjoying the scenic beauty of the place. If it happens to be a season you will witness the Yak Naka a temporary Yak shed especially for the preparation of cheese and butter. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 06

Trek from Daldung La to Beding (3690m.) which takes about seven and half hours. The trek now ascends uphill through different varieties of plants and Rhododendron trees. You trek over the suspension bridges over the deep gorges in few places making the trek even more enchanting. You finally reach Beding which is a big Sherpa village. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 07

Rest day at Beding for acclimatization. You can hike in and around for acclimatization and have panoramic views of mountains like Mt. Gauri Shanker, Tibetan mountains of the Tibetan boarder. Stay overnight at camp. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 08

Trek from Beding to Na (4180m.) and it takes about four hours. This day you can explore the upper slopes of the valley for Snow Partridge or a visit to the nearby glacier lake. The trek path slightly ascends along the river bank. The place is an open path with fresh air and the charming sound of the river. You can have the panoramic view of the mountains as the trek moves forward. You will also come across the Sherpa village having their own specialties. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 09

Rest Day at Na for preparation for Ramdung Go (5930m.). You will be able to witness the various views of mountains like Gauri Shanker, Menlung, Yalung and the mountains of the Tibet. You will be on a Yalung Glacier camp today. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 10

Trek from Na to Tso Rolpa Lake (4540m.) You will be trekking through the flat and gradually up path. You will be able to witness the beautiful Natural Lake filled with the chilling water of the glaciers. The views of Menlung and Tibetan Side Mountains add glory to your trek. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 11

Trek Tso Rolpa to Trakarding Glacier (4800m.) Early morning you will walk through the glaciers throughout the day and will be able to experience the new enchanting beauties that would add extra dimensions into your trial. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 12

Trek from Trakarding Glacier to Tashi Lapcha Pedi Camp (5755m.) The trail will still be ascending through some rock climbing and a gradual walk on the glacier. You will camp into Tashi Lapcha Pedi Camp today. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 13

Climb from Tashi Lapcha Pedi to Tashi Lapcha Pass (5755m.) to Tashi Cape. You will climb up the Tashi Lapcha Pedi and cross the Tashi Lapcha Pass through Tashi Cape. The trial will completely be over the snow straight up and then steep down towards Tashi Cape. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 14

Trek from Tashi Cape to Thyomgbo (4350m.) Today you will be experiencing a bit easy glacier walking. The trail descends down towards Thyomgbo. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 15

Trek Thyomgbo to Thame (3820m.) Early morning you will trek don to Thame. This trail gradually descends and you will have an added experience of easier trail and will be able to enjoy the natural beauty of the environment. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 16

Trek Thame to Namche Bazaar (3440m.) The trail descends gently for early one hour to Sanasa (3550m.). Now you have a glimpse of first really good views of the great peaks of the Khumbu including Mt Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kusum Kangaru. Passing by several villages and numerous teashops, the trail descends steeply to a bridge over the river Dudh Koshi at Phunki Tenga (3250m.) Although exhausting due to the zigzag path, the trek has numerous attractions like rhododendron bushes, beautiful birds chirping and superb mountain scenery making your trek exciting. Tyangboche is famous passing by several villages and numerous teashops, the trail ascends steeply to Sanasa where local Sherpa people sell the Tibetan goods. The way from Sanasa to Namche has small ups and downs with view of forests, scenery and mountains. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 17

Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2886 m.) and it takes about six hours. The last day of your trek leads from Namche Bazaar via Monjo to Lukla. The trek is pleasant, except for few short uphill climbs and then down to the Bhote- Koshi River crossing it three times. The last uphill climb of 45 minutes will bring you to Lukla for your overnight stay. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 18

Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu. You take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu which takes about 35 minutes. Stay overnight at camp

Itinerary of Rolwaling camping trek in Details

Day 01

Drive from Kathmandu (1350m.) to Dolakha (1660m.) via Lamosangu (750m.) and Charikot (1980m.) by bus. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 02

Drive from Dolakha to Shigati (950m.) via Piguti (920m) which takes about three and half hours. The trails pass through a gravel road crossing the different villages of a mixed community. We then cut across several streams and jungles with varieties of orchid, rhododendron and other natural vegetation. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 03

Trek from Shigati to Jagat (1440m.) which takes about seven hours. We trek through a normal flat land along the banks of the river and then pass through a rice terraced field. There are a few small village hamlets found on the way which are inhabited by different ethnic communities. We continue to cross jungles covered by orchid, a few rhododendron trees and wild vegetation. We next cross a suspension bridge to reach Jagat, a small town resided in by people from different cultures. We interact with the local folks to understand what life is like on these rugged mountains with the help of the guide who will do the interpretation. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 04

Trek from Jagat to Simigaon (2020m.) which takes about seven and half hours. The first part of the trail follows normally a flat path which ascends and descends through the jungle. At several points we cross a suspension bridge where numerous settlements are found on the way. We will also find small teashops and local grocery shops in some areas. We then climb steeply up to Simigaon, a village inhabited by Buddhist and a few Hindus. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 05

Trek from Simigaon to Daldung La (3976m.) which takes about seven hours. On the route we come across some Sherpa villages. The uphill trek is rich with different varieties of plants and Rhododendron trees. After this, the uphill trail takes ascending and descending paths as we enjoy the natural scenic beauty of our surroundings. If it happens to be the season, we will witness the Yak Naka which is a temporary Yak shed constructed especially for the preparation of cheese and butter. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 06

Trek from Daldung La to Beding (3690m.) which takes about seven and a half hours. The trek now ascends uphill through different varieties of plants and Rhododendron trees. We trek over suspension bridges lapping over deep gorges in a few places making the trek even more enchanting. We finally reach Beding which is a big Sherpa village. The Sherpa are known for their legendary mountain skills. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 07

Rest day at Beding for acclimatization. You can hike in and around for acclimatization and have panoramic views of mountains like Mt. Gauri Shanker and the Tibetan mountains across the Tibetan border. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 08

Trek from Beding to Na (4180m.) which takes about four hours. On this day we explore the upper slopes of the valley for the Snow Partridge or a visit to the nearby glacier lake. The trail slightly ascends along the river bank. This is an open area with fresh air where we here the charming sounds of the flowing river. We can have panoramic views of the mountains as the trek moves forward. we will also come across a Sherpa village where we can interact with these famous climbers and learn about their culture. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 09

Rest Day at Na. we will be able to witness the various views of mountains like Gauri Shanker, Menlung, Yalung and mountains of the Tibetan range. On this day we can hike Tso Rolpa Lake for excursion. We will be able to witness the beautiful Natural Lake filled with the chilling water of the glaciers.
Stay overnight at camp.

Day 10

Trek from Na to Beding which takes about five hours. The path slightly descends along the river bank. We enjoy panoramic views of Menlung, Gauri Shankar and many other unnamed mountains and peaks. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 11

Trek from Beding to Daldung La (3976m.) which takes about six hours. The trek now descends downhill through varieties of plants and Rhododendron trees. We trek over the suspension bridges stretching over deep gorges in a few areas. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 12

Trek from Daldung La to Simigaon which takes about six hours. On the route we come across picturesque Sherpa villages. The downhill trek is rich in different varieties of plants and Rhododendron trees. After the downhill trek we will now come across ascending and descending paths while enjoying the scenic beauty of the place. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 13

Trek from Simigaon to Jagat which takes about six hours. The first part of your trail follows normally a flat path, and then it descends and ascends through the jungle. At several places, we backtrack across suspension bridges. There are numerous villages on your way. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 14

Trek from Jagat to Shigati which takes about seven hours. Crossing a suspension bridge, we trek through normal flat lands along the side of the river. We backtrack through rice terrace fields. There are small villages on your way which are inhabited by mixed communities. At several points, we cross jungles covered by orchid, few rhododendron trees and wild vegetation. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 15

Trek from Shigati to Dolakha (1660m.) which takes about three and half hours. We have to cross several streams and jungles with varieties of orchid, rhododendron and other natural vegetation. The trails pass through a gravel road crossing different villages of mixed communities. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 16

After an early morning b/fast, we drive from Dolakha to Kathmandu.
